The psychedelic mastermind at the genesis of Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett became increasingly unstable as his underground acclaim grew. He left the band in 1968, living in obscurity until his death in 2006.

Following Waters' departure in 1983, Nick Mason and David Gilmour sued to continue under the Floyd moniker, paving the way for this 1987 hit, which Waters dismissed as "a clever forgery," but nonetheless renewed Floyd's blues guitar firepower.
