About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

R. Kelly attained multi-platinum status by deftly waxing poetic on the art of sex. While the R&B lothario occasionally takes a hiatus from crafting hedonistic melodies to appease his spiritual side with jubilant hymns like "I Believe I Can Fly," it's hard for Kelly to shake his freaky, "Feeling on Your Booty" alter ego. Since his 1993 solo debut, 12 Play, the Chi-town crooner has offered a canon of unapologetic sex-you-up anthems. And his latest lust fest, TP. 3 Reloaded, is no exception. Borrowing Prince's falsetto on the sensual "Remote Control," he purrs: "So professional / I swear this here was your career." Kelly also makes even the most mundane activity sound erotic on the suggestive "Put My T-Shirt On" and the naughty "In the Kitchen." But Kelly really hits his, er, stride, on the reggae-inspired "Slow Wind," where he sings, "Let's get together and make sweet love," like a libidinous Bob Marley. While the melodramatic five-part soap opera "Trapped in the Closet" is creative and captivating, the intricate plot twists are somewhat hard to follow, especially when the husband of the woman Kelly's creepin' with inexplicably comes out of the closet. Although TP.3 Reloaded isn't as enjoyable as the classic soul-reminiscent Chocolate Factory, he still gives fans enough wham, bam, thank you ma'am for their buck. Alexandra Phanor Barnes & Noble
