Recorded before they inked with Hopeless, Best Friends Our Worst Enemies is a remastered EP of material that -- while accessible -- puts Royden into the generic punk/metal pile that so many other bands have inhabited since the turn of the decade. Beneath the obvious surface of metallic guitar touches of "Dolittle Raids" and punk posturing of "Made in Lies" lies a penchant for pop, a knack for hooks, and a devotion to old-school classic rock that says "more of the same." While Royden's brief flirtation with prog on "Carabella" seems promising, Best Friends Our Worst Enemies lacks much in the way of invention. John D. Luerssen, All Music Guide
