My father had a reel-to-reel tape deck in the early 60s; 'real' audiophile stuff for the home consumer back then. One of the commercially produced "reel albums" he had was Nat King Cole Sings My Fair Lady. That was nearly 40 years ago and the songs (as only Nat Cole can sing them) are still stuck in my head. This album is an absolute gem. Until now, I could only find it on vinyl (on ebay). I really don't care a whit about the saccharine schmaltz pop schlock days of summer--lazy, hazy, crazy or otherwise. In fact, that's why I can't give this two album CD 5 stars; the sunshine & pretzels & beer drag it down. The My Fair Lady cuts themselves are well worth the price of the CD and more. They shine far beyond 5 stars.
