U.K.-based Delirious? have established themselves at the leading edge of modern worship by moving beyond pure praise to a style that can only be described as devotional rock 'n' roll. On their sixth release, World Service, the group's departure from bombastic worship to sizzling rock is more apparent than ever. The trippy opening track, "Grace Like a River," wallops listeners with the frenetic power of its lead guitar riff; "God in Heaven" is a pounding number that lifts its simplistic chorus ("God in heaven, be the glory") with driving guitars and drumbeats; on a lighter side, the infectious and upbeat "Everyone Knows" is delightfully summery, its message of love perfectly complemented by the sunny, happy melody. This is Delirious? at their best; while there's still a few of the more pompous numbers that have come to personify worship ("Majesty" is a good example), Delirious? continue to impress. This is a fine collection that breaks new ground for praise & worship. Lisa Zhito, Barnes & Noble
