Editorial Reviews

Flogging Molly expand their Celtic-punk sound with an album that's more mature, more polished, and not quite as intense as its predecessor, although it does have its share of high-energy numbers. There are some thrashing punk tunes, some folk ballads, some relatively mainstream hard rock (although there's usually a tin whistle or fiddle to remind you this is Flogging Molly), a Cajun feel on "Tomorrow Comes a Day Too Soon" (which showcases Matt Hensley on accordion), a brief a cappella performance by Dave King ("The Wrong Company"), and even a duet with Lucinda Williams on "Factory Girls." The songs address such topics as U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East ("Screaming at the Wailing Wall"), Irish workers on 17th century sugar plantations in Barbados ("Tobacco Island"), and being prepared to leave nothing behind at death ("Don't Let Me Die Still Wondering"), with nostalgia as a common theme in several songs. The band sounds a bit softer than before, with the mix relatively de-emphasizing electric guitar in favor of other instruments, but this album should still appeal to fans of Flogging Molly's previous work. ~ Todd Kristel, All Music Guide All Music Guide

April 07, 2005: Having "Drunken Lullabies" and "Swagger" by Flogging Molly, I decided to get their latest CD, "Within a Mile of Home". This CD, in a way, is kind of mellow. The singer tends to sing more, but there's still the amazing instruments and many songs still have their energetic sound. The music is mainly the same, but then, kind of different, and I think Flogging Molly is just headin' in a different direction - and it is for the BETTER!!!!!!!! So if you are a fan of Flogging Molly this is a must-have, or if you just have an open-mind to music, then check out the samples and if you like what you hear then BUY THE CD!!!!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!! (I sure wasn't.)

April 05, 2005: It's that close to being a perfect album. As usual Dave King brings his Irish roots to song. Bridget is phenomenal on tin whistle and fiddle. Matt Hensley(skate boy) plays a mean accordian. Overall this album goes from over the top to my favorite,The Light of a Fading Star. Love this album.
