About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Russian pop sensation T.A.T.U. -- comprised of 18-year-olds Julia Olegovna Volkova and Elena Sergeevna Katina -- have snagged the spotlight as much for their promotional antics as for their beat-driven Europop. They take Britney Spears' early schoolgirl incarnation to the next level, magnifying their sexually charged image with Sapphic overtones. Musically, T.A.T.U. are more conventional, singing soaring melodies atop beat-driven rhythms and taking occasional breathers for melancholy ballads. Still, their first European smash single, "All the Things She Said," details a love affair between two teenage girls and comes with a provocative video (named MTV Russia's Video of the Year). The disc also includes a cover of the Smiths' lament "How Soon Is Now?" Barnes & Noble

April 02, 2005: I must say this album is very much okay in my book. The two most well known singles, Not Gonna Get Us and All the Things She Said, are good songs to hear once in a while. On a whole, the rest is just "eh" in my view. My one issue is the way they use their false image to attract attention. I think I would but this even if they didn't, because it truly has good potential.
