Latin pop singer Richard Lugo was born in New York and raised in Miami. Son of Dominican Republic-born Latin music promoter Richard de Jesús Lugo and Altagracia Maritza Lugo, the young artist began singing at his elementary school, while joining a vocal group. At the age of 13, after participating in a talent contest, Richard Lugo was introduced to writer/producer Dallas Austin, who signed him up, recording his first demo in 1999. A year later, the singer had the opportunity to open for BBMack, later, touring along with O-Town. In 2001, his song "Boom" was used by New York Giants at the Superbowl. Drago Bonacich
