Michel Corrette

This French composer, arranger and teacher wrote a number of instructional methods. His compositions included motets, operas, ballets, concertos, symphonies, sonatas, and compositions for harpsichord and organ. Corrette's extensive career lasted for approximately 75 years and provides a broad survey of developing musical styles, conventions and attitudes. The methodologies, numbering approximately 17, are quite practical in their application of techniques required for presentation and study. The stylings of his music primarily reflect popular melodies and yield a bountiful source of historical and aesthetic information. Keith Johnson
