Hopeless Records quintet Nural hailed from La Crescenta, CA, where they developed their earnest mix of emo balladry; organic, Incubus-style post-grunge; and subtle Christian themes. Vocalist Kyle Castellani, guitarists Ryan Davis and Charley Hoy, bassist Kyle Black, and drummer Aaron Breding began playing locally in 2002 and 2003 before hooking up with Hopeless and recording their full-length debut. Weight of the World appeared in August 2004, and Nural prepared to support the record with substantial touring. Johnny Loftus
