About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

This record has sold more than a million copies and spawned two radio hits, making the stylish Cherry Poppin' Daddies swing's first rock stars. And Zoot Suit Riot is the perfect neo-swing primer: Bursting with brash horns, high-octane rhythms, and songs about the three D's drinking, dancing, driving it's a lesson in how to make old-fashioned music hip again. Particularly in the strip-bar ambience of "Ding Dong Daddy of the D-Car Line" and the groovy dance-hall number "When I Change Your Mind," this Portland, Oregon, band shows it knows more about swing than where to get cool vintage suits. June 16, 2009: I had never heard of the Cherry Poppin' Daddies, but had heard the song Zoot Suit Riot. So I just had to give the Daddies a try. The whole CD is GREAT. Just full of toe-tapping numbers. The lyrics to the songs are super. I love, love this genre of music and the Daddies won't let you down
