About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

It's no secret that the Leeds-based Kaiser Chiefs love the Jam. The band's 2005 excellent but uneven debut Employment was an infectious salute to all things mod and Brit-pop, boasting three solid singles ("I Predict a Riot," "Oh My God" and "Everyday I Love You Less and Less") that held great promise for future endeavors. On Yours Truly, Angry Mob, the group takes a little more time in establishing its pop acumen, offering no immediate pay-offs despite its insatiable thirst for FM melody. Opener and first single "Ruby," a rowdy, mid-tempo singalong that gets everything right but feels a little tossed-off and disposable, is indicative of Angry Mob's first half -- "Heat Dies Down," "Love's Not a Competition (But I'm Winning)" and "Highroyds" have all of their cogs well-oiled and reliably dressed, but there's nothing here that warrants the inevitable second listen in which a perfectly constructed pop song's true genius is revealed. To that end, Angry Mob is creatively back loaded (though not genius), relying on a series of rewarding and occasionally subversive tracks like "I Can Do It Without You," "Learnt My Lesson Well," "My Kind of Guy" and closer "Retirement" to avoid the dreaded sophomore slump, revealing a band that is likely to continue pumping out albums with a few great songs on them until the requisite "Greatest Hits" collection arrives. Yours Truly, Angry Mob Is Artistic Dynamite!by Anonymous

February 18, 2009: When I first heard The Kaiser Chiefs' second blockbuster CD Yours Truly, Angry Mob
when it was released in 2007, I was totally thrilled
and fascinated about the way it sounded. Filled with an exhilarating
sound, superb guitar playing, swinging melodies, power pop hits, a dash
of Eurobeat-syle electric keyboard solos, musical action and in-your-
face rock and roll, The Kaiser Chiefs delivers the personality, high
energy, attitude and world class excellence rock fans demand from a
rock band or rock star.
As many people would agree, Yours Truly, Angry Mob would become
another international hit and another of their greatest acheivements
that even made The Ten Best List on many a critics' choice for 2007.
(The deluxe edition is also as great as the single CD) Although the
band is hardly retrospective (very little to say the least!) and that nothing is fake
about them, The Kaiser Chiefs showcase a dazzling, fresh and highly
energetic new phase for the music they represent well. So, for real
rock fans and those who admire the best Indie Rock has to offer, I
would have to highly recommend Yours Truly, Angry Mob, because it is
an action-packed masterpiece that speaks for itself and really knows
how to rock.
Plus, I would also highly recommend The Kaiser Cheifs' explosive
debut CD Employment (2005) and their highly anticipated concert DVD
Live At Eland Road, which came out in 2008.

I Also Recommend: Employment.

July 14, 2007: Of the 43 reviews on iTunes, they give it a 4.5 out of 5. Ruby has a great upbeat chorus, there is some nice melodic diversity between tracks "some piano!". Great price for 14 songs.
