On the heels of last year's Greatest Hymns comes Greatest Inspirational Songs, a repackaging of vintage Debby Boone material, most of it recorded for the now-defunct Lamb & Lion Records. The release is noteworthy because so much of this largely '80s era material is no longer available. Whether these recordings have stood the test of time remains debatable -- production on "The Time Is Now" and "Choose Life" sound quaint, if a bit dated. But Boone fans will be happy to hear songs like the Gary Chapman-penned "Sincerely Yours," a tender ballad as lovely today as when it was released on 1980's With My Song. And what Debby Boone package would be complete without her 1977 number one hit, "You Light Up My Life"? Certainly not this one -- and a listen to this golden oldie takes us back to when Debby Boone ruled the pop charts for 10 weeks straight. That is sweet inspiration, indeed. Lisa Zhito, Barnes & Noble
