Arguably the most popular merenguero of the '90s, Toņo Rosario was a member of Los Hermanos Rosario before finding fame as a solo artist. Born Máximo Antonio del Rosario in Higuey, D.R., the young Rosario was immediately drawn to music, performing with his brothers Pepe, Rafa, Tony, Luis, and Francis. The group found national fame in the '80s, but Toņo nonetheless struck out on his own, moving to Puerto Rico in the early '90s, when it was the center of the Caribbean music industry.
