April 20, 2002: The Promise Ring do what in my opinion was needed. Wood/Water is an album that takes the band in a new direction. Gone are any reminents of their punk rock/Cap'n Jazz roots; what's left is quality music. If listeners are open minded enough to accept a new sound from an old band they will find a great album that is relaxing, and pleasant while not sounding chiche.
