Editorial Reviews

The fourth entry into the Winter Party series of DJ mix albums features Warren Gluck and Tracy Young, who each get a disc to showcase their respective styles of South Beach-style dance music. Both are fairly similar DJs, dropping mostly New York gay club-style house (Junior Vasquez, Roger Sanchez) before eventually moving into more progressive territory for the last two or three records of their respective sets in hopes of upping the intensity level. For the most part, this strategy works, as formulaic as it may be. There aren't too many big-name tracks here that will catch your ears on an initial listen. Some of the more noteworthy moments include David Morales' "Needin U II," George Morel's (as Morel's Grooving Again) "Hey DJ," and Danny Tenaglia's (as Datar) "B." Overall, this is a very respectable South Beach-style collection, particularly relative to the myriad more exploitative efforts flooding the dance market in the early 2000s.
