About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

This 2003 Deluxe Edition of the Who's classic 1971 album finds all nine original tracks newly remastered and features a treasure trove of bonus material -- live versions of the songs that Pete Townshend had intended to use as part of his shelved Lifehouse project. The six tracks appear on Disc 1, after the original nine from Who's Next, were recorded in New York with guest musicians including Leslie West and Al Kooper; two were previously unreleased ("Getting in Tune" and "Won't Get Fooled Again"). The second CD features 14 tracks recorded in 1971 at London's Young Vic Theatre by the Stones Mobile recording unit; all were previously unreleased. Additionally, this new package includes new updated liner notes by Townshend along with John Atkins original reissue notes and is housed in an eight-panel digipak. Barnes & Noble

January 14, 2007: It is a shame that a collection of this caliber with the work that must have been poured into its re-mastering was actually a partial waste. If this work would have been done in either DVD-Audio or SACD format it would have been unrivaled by any R&R artist's work of the genre. If only quality was the important issue instead of number of sales. Try comparing any classic work on ANY media to the same work remastered in either of the above-mentioned MULTI-channel formats and you will agree hands down, (Hotel CA, Machine Head, to name a few). It would be incredible. Maybe next year.

July 17, 2006: WOW... If you ask me, this album is the greatest classic rock album of all time. The quality and sound is perfect and there are no track that you'd want to skip, right from Baba O'Riley until Daltrey's anguished scream at the end of Won't Get Fooled again. Who's Next deserves Six stars if you ask me.
