About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Razor & Tie's When I Stop Dreaming: The Best of the Louvin Brothers samples the scope of the brothers' material, both secular and religious, and has the added bonus of Marshall Crenshaw's thoroughly researched capsule history of the Louvins' career. "Knoxville Girl," a country hit, is among the 18 tracks here, but contemporary country fans might be better acquainted with the likes of "If I Could Only Win Your Love," from the Gram Parsons-Emmylou Harris version, or "The Great Atomic Power," from the Uncle Tupelo cover. Of note as well: The Country Music Foundation label's Louvin Brothers entry, Radio Favorites '51-'57, contains the only live recordings of the group -- and potent ones at that.
