Woody Allen's 2009 comedy Whatever Works followed the turgid love life of a misanthropic, chess-obsessed ex-physicist played (in a real stretch) by misanthropic Seinfeld co-creator/Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David. The film's soundtrack is a solid collection of classical excerpts and swing, classic jazz, and big band tunes from the '30s and '40s, including Charlie Byrd's "Menina Flor," Royal Philharmonic Orchestra performances from Beethoven's "Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125" and "Symphony No. 5 in C Minor," and a curious rendition of "Happy Birthday to You" by David himself.
