Editorial Reviews

The Walt Disney and the 1964 World's Fair boxed set documents a behind-the-scenes peek at Disney's various pavilions created for the 1964 World's Fair -- from concept, to design, to execution. These various fanciful, factual, and enjoyable exhibits proved so popular to fairgoers that some were made into permanent attractions at the Disney theme parks themselves. Portions of the Progressland and Magic Skyway exhibits were adopted for use in the theme parks' Tomorrowland areas, while "It's a Small World" and "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" became permanent installations unto themselves -- simultaneously becoming American cultural touchstones in the process. The five CDs included cover each of the attractions, including song demos, early script reads, and various mixes of the finished song recordings. Though a full hour of "It's a Small World" may be an exercise in sugary endurance for some, the recordings, along with the lavishly illustrated 24-page booklet, paint an inspiring picture of the creativity and knack for innovation that the Disney "imagineers" brought to these beloved attractions. ~ J. March 26, 2009: "Walt Disney And The 1964 World's Fair" is a delightful look at the attractions Disney created for the famous Fair.It features memorable music, songs, and moments from such legendary exhibits as "The Carousel Of Progress" and "It's A Small World".Through these excellent discs and the beautiful book,we learn how each pavillion was created. We see just how much time, care, and effort went into them. This marvelous set proves why Walt Disney was so successful:he knew his audience. He knew how to entertain and educate people at the same time, and he did it better than

anyone. The set is loaded with treasures, but the highlights are the first three discs("The Carousel Of Progress","Abraham Lincoln"-Royal Dano's

narration is a gem here-,and the charming "It's A Small World").For those

who got to visit the 1964 World's Fair, like me,this lovely set will bring back many fond memories. And for those who didn't,and may have only heard about these legendary attractions,it will be a wonderful history lesson.

Sit back and enjoy!
