About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

The soundtrack to the acclaimed Waking Ned Devine is packed with songs and sounds wonderfully evocative of the tiny Irish sea town which is the film's setting; most notable is the inclusion of the title track to the Waterboys' 1988 masterpiece Fisherman's Blues, a record which anticipated the contemporary vogue for traditional Irish music by close to a decade and which now might finally begin earning the recognition it's so long deserved. December 16, 2002: Over all, I thought that Waking Ned Divine was a movie of the true Irish spirit. Set in a tiny rural villiage on an island off the east coast of Ireland, this film was very well done with great acting. I have never before seen such a real portrayel of modern rural Ireland.

November 18, 2001: Shaun Davey, the master composer of Irish music is at his best! He just weaves magic around the listener casting us in a spell we would never want to come out of. The album begins out with ''Let the draw begin'', which is just Irish Music at its best. It is just a taste of what is to come. After that follow, Red Herrings ,Maggie and Finn, ..., Lux Eterna, .., Parting Glass. Even if they sold each of these songs as a seperate CD, I would have bought all 15 of them. If you like Irish music, this is what you need, the best album that I ever bought in my life!
