March 01, 2008:
Tristan, the ultimate tragedy. Period. The best version, here. Nilsson: vocal purity and at the same time strength (It reminds me a part of the film "Men in Black", when one is told that many aliens live among us and some are even famous people: surely one is tempted to say Nilsson vocal powers are simply not human). Windgassen, a truly "human" Tristan, because he can sound powerfull or weak, according to the music. Brangane and Kurwenal are up to the task. But the real master here is Bohm. He conducts this piece with an almost supernatural energy. Just listen to the brass in Liebestod ... an experience not to forget in this life. And besides, 1 act in 1 cd. What else can you ask for?
