January 13, 2004: They've been around and in many forms, with Sascha K. always the compass in the middle, so it's easier to note what's missing than what's new. Tim Skold is gone. He helped produce M. Manson's new album, and I'll follow Skold wherever he goes, because I'm a fan. But since his departure from this band, the limited-frequency sound of "Attak" is gone too. "Attak" sounds great but had taken KMFDM a bit too much into the tinny sound of Skold's own album and Shotgun Messiah work. He had also pushed in some of his particular sappy lyrics. His content matched KMFDM, but his style sometimes did not. If he comes back, I'm sure the meshing will be much better. "WWIII" has a luscious sound that harkens back to "Adios," and it's more event-specific than most KMFDM CDs. By the time 9-11 ocurred, they had disbanded, and I was grateful to hear of their return, because a voice like theirs is needed now more than ever!

September 27, 2003: KMFDM is back and believe it or not, they have superceeded all previous efforts with their best album to date. If you've heard the new Manson, you'll know why I'm glad that TIm Skold is out of the picture. No sappy songs about Mommy and daddy not giving anyone enough attention. It's KMFDM at their finest, plenty of wit, anti-establishment cynical points of view and yes, they are still even anti KMFDM!!! High points are WWIII, Last things and INTRO although each song is determined to become a favorite sooner or later...
