Editorial Reviews

Voices in Rhythm is not the reissue to begin an appreciation of composer, pianist, and bandleader Les Baxter. His unique and sometimes bizarre approach to easy listening music is absent on this session, originally recorded for Reprise Records in 1962. This straight reissue features 12 tracks, mainly standards, including "September in the Rain," "Pennies From Heaven," and "These Foolish Things (Remind Me of You)." Those expecting anything like the exploratory Space Escapade or Ritual of the Savage should stick with Baxter's Capitol recordings. ~ Al Campbell Les Campbell, All Music Guide

July 30, 2009: I'm a little embarrased, but I like this cd!

I must admit, I'm a little biased, my parents listened to this stuff on the old stereophonic console in the 60's and hearing this cd takes me there again!

Most would think it is absolutely dorky and this style of music is very dated. But you can't say it's not well done.

If you like easy listening music and high quality vocals -- you'll like this cd.

The blending of male and female voices and the arrangements are top notch. Can't imagine how much practice it took for this group of singers to harmonize so well. Put on some headphones and listen how much the voices actually resemble instruments!

I want more!
