About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

One of the legendary thrash bands of the '80s, Kreator is back in fine fashion with Violent Revolution. So strong is the album that it not only reclaims their previous glory, but even sets about to show a bit of one-upmanship on it. The album utilizes much of Kreator's earlier musical leanings while moving the group forward into a new age. In fact, in many ways it seems as if Kreator has taken lessons from recent releases that, while experimenting with new styles, left the band's old ways somewhat forgotten. By combining those experimental ideas with the old character, Kreator has basically reinvented itself. What you have is something that should please all of Kreator's old-time fans who may have felt a bit disenfranchised by the band's later works, while still creating a fresh sound. October 12, 2002: German Thrashers Kreator who have existed in the metal scene for something like 16-17 years, have returned in 2001 with a new CD, a new guitarist alongside Mille Petrozza, and a new world tour with fellow Germans, Destruction. This album heads right into the Thrash vibe with "Reconquering the Throne" and is not different from Kreators style of power and raw intensity. This leads into "The Patriarch" which is a cool little harmonizing intro for the title track "Violent Revolution." This album definately stands on its own being a good and progressive Thrash disc. Most of the songs are either progressive type Thrash or straight ahead mid-tempo heavy metal. The real achievement is the balance the band achieves with melody and fierce rythms. Lead guitarist Sami Yli Sirnio adds his own stamp of harmonizing to the album and does most of the leads while Mille still does some also. Ventors drumming is excellent with a top notch sound. This certainly is as good as any American metal album released in the last five years. and would be appreciated by those who like Metallica and Tool. Songs like "Replicas of Life" and "Mind On Fire" show real musical progression and prove that Kreator can stand as tall as the best of them. I do not normally follow this band, but after seeing a really good tour in the U.S. I went and found this one.(it is an import and difficult to get in stores)I suggest you save yourself the trouble and buy it here. Good job Kreator!
