About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

The Rankins have turned their Celtic-Canadian roots upside down on their latest release. Working with producer George Massenburg (Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Little Feat, James Taylor) for the first time, the group looked anew at the direction of their songs. The process resulted in outstanding interpretations such as the country-rock opening cut, "Movin' On," the haunting Gaelic harmonies of "Parlour Medley" and "An Innis Aigh (The Happy Isle)," the folk-with-a-beat take on "Tailor's Daughter," and the meditative version of "One Day I Walk." Carving out unique territory between the music of Steeleye Span and Leahy, the sibling band claims a lively place all its own. Kerry Dexter, Barnes & Noble

March 25, 2004: Especially good with headset listening while relaxing. Stuffed full of sounds from unexpected directions. Good variety. Well produced!
