About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

When it comes to smooth-jazz saxophone, Kenny G is still the main man. His latest collection of hits and popular selections adds to his previous official best-of collection, bringing on such new favorites as “What a Wonderful World” (G’s “duet” with Louis Armstrong), “One More Time” (with singer Chante Moore), and the saxophonist’s take on the bossa nova classic “The Girl from Ipanema,” complete with a vocal from Bebel Gilberto. Two unreleased cuts, including G’s rendition of Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On,” round out an album sure to please both longtime fans and newcomers to the pellucid sound of this ever-popular saxophonist. April 30, 2003: Better hold on to your bootstraps, buddy cuz Big K is back in town. That's right, he's got a cd of 12 new numbers, backed with his band of meth-amphetamine driven hooligans. Right from the first track, you know he's got a strong album with the song "My tortured soul shall seeketh revenge". It's dark, it's goth, and it's all Kenny. He lightens things up in the next couple tracks with "I've always harbored a secret hatred for that Snuggles fabric softener bear" and "Runny eggs and a shot of whiskey". I won't ruin the whole album for you, but there are some real killer songs on here. Since he cut his hair and shaved his eyebrowes, Kenny has really taken a turn for the avant-garde. I heard he actually picked a fist fight with an old lady that was sitting in the front row of his concert last fall, just to "liven the show up". If you are a fan of Kenny's recent work since his auto accident, this cd should fall right in line with your expectations. Some of it is pretty mellow, but some of it can be a little borderline. I recommend sampling some of the tracks first.
