Editorial Reviews

With the departure of Craig Fuller, the face (and sound) of Pure Prairie League changed considerably. Larry Goshorn (ex-Sacred Mushroom) has replaced Fuller as the main songwriter in the band. And, while the overall album isn't up to its predecessors, there are still some nice moments including the title track, "Runner," and a humorous tribute to country music legend Merle Haggard. Even Without Craig Fuller, Pure Prairie League Still Sounded Goodby pplfaninnc

September 20, 2009: With the release of "Two-Lane Highway," Pure Prairie League went on without Craig Fuller doing vocals. Yet this album still sounds good, even decades later. The title cut will make you want to jump in your vehicle, turn this song on high volume and take off on a road trip. I also really like the tongue-in-check "I'll Fix Your Flat Tire, Merle" plus "Pickin' to Beat the Devil." The guys proved they could adapt to personnel changes and make more good music. If you like original country rock, you'll like this CD.
