Tomorrow captures the trailblazing Winans building on Andrae Crouch's contemporary gospel sound. Here, the Winans update gospel with their trademark grooves, while bringing gospel's syncopated rhythms into alignment with mainstream R&B beats. From the fast-paced "Secret Place" to the mid-tempo stylings of "You Just Don't Want to Be Loved" and the infectious "Uphold Me," the group's mellifluous baritone harmonies set a standard that has yet to be beat stirring cross-format interest. Their compelling, charismatic messages on songs like "Trust in God" are a credit to the lyrical genius of Marvin Winans, who wrote most of the group's material. Also worth mentioning: "Golden Opportunity," which lends a sanctified quartet feel to the well-balanced set. Lisa Collins, Barnes & Noble
