The Cajun French Music Association voted the band's Rounder debut, Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys (Rounder 6038, CD and cassette), best album, best group, and best new group, and Riley was also voted best accordion player. And this album is even better. In his liner notes for this release, Ben Sandmel cites the group's "clarity of vision, consistent finesse, and commitment to quality, classic Cajun music."
