Despite its uneven material, Big Bub's Timeless is a big step forward for the rapper. He comes much closer to developing a distinct musical personality here than he did on his debut, Comin' at Cha, and while some of the tracks fall into predictable lover-man territory, cuts like the infectious "Need Your Love" -- which features guest appearances from Queen Latifah and Heavy D -- illustrate what Bub is capable of.
