About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

This collection covers material stemming from this landmark group's 1981 Light Records debut, Introducing the Winans, to their 1993 release All Out. Included are such favorites as "The Question Is," "Tomorrow," "Let My People Go," "Ain't No Need to Worry," "It's Time," "A Friend," and "Payday," among others. This release truly shows why the Winans are considered one of the artists responsible for bridging the gap between gospel and mainstream urban contemporary music. ~ Tim A. September 14, 2002: The Winans' has greatly inspired me and my husband throughout the years of listening to them. I have been encouraged to "Trust in God" and "It's gonna be alright" and also to "Count it all joy" during my test and trials!

May 07, 2002: In a world of music that contstantly transforms to please the masses people often times long for what was, for what is familiar, for what is true and pure. People desire music of the heart that transcends time and achieved ''classic'' even as it was released and was becoming popular. Christians who left the world to join the kingdom of God remember the days when they ''grooved'' and ''jammed'' and wonder, is all Godly music humdrum, ceremonial, sanctimonious, and dry? Those who are musically trained and have musical gifts search for intricate harmonies, calculated rhythms, and orchestrated arrangements that rival those of the most seasoned classically trained musicians, and lyrics with a message that are not boring. Hardcore Christians seek singers and musicians that don't water down the message and compromise the faith...with all that said, I give you the Winans. I grew up on them, as will my children, and I'll grow old on them.
