Editorial Reviews

The 25 tracks on The Very Best of Tiny Bradshaw: Well Oh Well were originally recorded for the King label in the late '40s and early '50s, and contain the majority of his beloved jump blues favorites such as "Heavy Juice," "Well Oh Well," "I'm Going to Have Myself a Ball," "Walkin' the Chalk Line," and (of course) "Train Kept A Rollin'." This Collectables compilation makes a fine primer for the novice, but collectors will want to pick up Bradshaw's chronological discs on the Classics label spotlighting 1934-1947 and 1949-1951. March 20, 2006: If you are in need of a proper introduction to Tiny Bradshaw this is the collection for you. This budget-priced collection has a variety of styles including blues R&B and a little bit of jazz. Tiny's vocals are the highlight on most of the tracks, especially "Breakin' Up The House" and some nice saxophone work by Red Prysock on the later recording sessions. Unfortunately we lost the great singer in 1959 to cancer. Another treat is hearing the original version of "The Train Kept A Rollin" recorded more than 20 years before the Aerosmith version.
