About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Soft rock during the new jack era was overflowing to the brim with talent, and Al B. Sure! was one of several male vocalists leading the way for a short period of time. His confident delivery and smooth style made him to many a woman in the front row the second coming of Teddy or Luther -- and it all started the same way that this compilation starts, with his smash "Nite and Day." The rest of the CD works its way through the hits of his three releases, with a few minor songs that would be considered filler here and there, but that shouldn't deter those unfamiliar with his works from picking this up. On the whole it's a solid survey of a man whose recording career was far more short-lived than many of the ladies (and a few smooth-talkin' gentlemen) would have liked. January 29, 2004: I will never forget the first time I heard “Nite and Day.” Back then I was still a youngster living with my parents. My stereo was on the floor and I was listening to the radio. From the second I heard that first note, that bass and him sing “Ooooh, can you feel it baby?” I dropped to the floor and lay in front of the speakers. I was hooked. Paralyzed with glee and filled with lust. And I hadn’t even seen him yet. I still feel the same way every time I hear it. I’m a hardcore Al B. fan and proud of it. I bought every single one of his albums, well cassettes and loved them all. I recently got rid of all my cassettes and am replacing them with CDs. I bought "In Effect Mode" again, but did not want to buy all the others. This new CD featuring his best is the answer. All the songs I still love and haven’t heard in a while. As I write this, I’m enjoying “Hotel California.” Who else could make this song so sexy? The liner notes give a nice background and there are a bunch of pictures. Some are a little cheesy, but I guess looking back the 80’s were just generally kind of cheesy. He is a cutie like no other and when I’m 90 years old, he’ll keep me young remembering the first time I heard him. If you love Al like I love Al, then you must own this CD. Buy it "Right Now." It's feelin' kind of right...
