The second of three Les Brown Hindsight LPs, like the third, features the Band Of Renown during the height of the bebop era. These radio transcriptions are more modern than one would expect (although "Bopple Sauce" is the only overtly bop tune) and there are solos from such fine players as clarinetist Abe Most, trombonist Ray Sims, tenorman Dave Pell and trumpeter Frank Beach. Lucy Ann Polk takes six lightly swinging vocals and the band is well showcased on the concise (mostly under three-minute) instrumentals. All three of these Hindsight albums are easily recommended to swing collectors. Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
