Vitamin's String Quartet Tribute to Jimi Hendrix seems more inspired than the label's usual lot of cash-ins and borderline novelty releases. "Stone Free" and "Purple Haze" are awash in fuzzy lead violins and a churning bottom end of viola and cello; "Manic Depression" gets downright tribal with its loping rhythms and layers of keening violin freakouts. Other highlights include the cello opening up into a roar for the main riff to "Foxey Lady," and the quieter moments of later entries "Little Wing" and "Wind Cries Mary." While not able to shake its novelty nature completely, the tribute is certainly a valid entry in the never-ending whirlwind of Hendrix-related releases. Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
