Editorial Reviews

In 1964, the hit Broadway musical The Sound of Music became a film, starring a young singer named Julie Andrews as Maria. Andrews's enthralling performances of such classics as "Do-Re-Mi" and "My Favorite Things" made her a household name, while the film was nominated for ten Academy Awards and made Rodgers & Hammerstein one of the most famous songwriting teams in history. The music from the original 35mm film has been remixed for this 2000 reissue, which coincides with a video/DVD rerelease of the film. Songs such as "Nuns and Nazis," "Edelweiss," and "Entra'acte" make their CD debuts, as do souped-up versions of "I Have Confidence" and the movie's title song. Several previously unreleased cuts of some of the lovely waltzes heard in the film but never released on audio make this CD a must-have for fans of this essential musical.
