The Red Hot Chili Peppers are a band whose sound has changed throughout their time together as band in 17 years. This, their first album, is an interesting album with its own style of rap and funk rock, produced by George Clinton. Obviously, their sound has matured from here on their latest release, the exceptional Californication. But considering their lack of experience, this album was a very good and refreshing slice of something new. The best tracks are Green Heaven, Out In LA and True Men Don't Kill Coyotes; three perfect examples of the original music from the masters of funk rock. Definitely worth investigation.
