About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Like many East Coast hardcore/metal bands, Ensign mean well. Fighting the good fight for individualism, nonconformity, and the spirit of hardcore, their cause is certainly noble. The problem is, most of their colleagues are doing exactly the same thing, which suggests a certain kind of conformity in itself. The Price of Progression offers 17 blasts of full-tilt hardcore (played with the precision of speed metal), with the usual shouted vocals and caustic mantras about questioning authority and starting revolutions. Unfortunately, Ensign aren't starting any revolutions themselves, but merely holding up well-worn conventions -- which may be just fine for die-hard fans of the genre, but those looking for something truly radical should go elsewhere. ~ Andy Hinds, All Music Guide All Music Guide
