About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Talk Talk began life as a slavishly derivative, Duran Duran-styled new romantic synth pop band, as their debut, The Party's Over, clearly shows. Much of the album seems to attempt to recreate Duran Duran's debut, but even with their most blatant rip-offs, like the single "Talk Talk," they do it with a naïve charm that makes for some really enjoyable music, even if it isn't particularly innovative or groundbreaking. December 02, 2004: "The Party's Over," unlike what the other review says, is an absolutely fabulous album. Sure, it does sound a lot like early Duran Duran, but how many bands did? a lot. Mark Hollis has an excellent voice and he and the rest of the band are great songwriters. Every song on this CD is a good, catchy, synth-pop song (even the slower songs). The album flows between each song nicely, too. No songs stand out or sound misplaced. Most recommended songs include: "It's So Serious," "Today," "The Party's Over," and "Hate."
