About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Pianist Keith Jarrett’s “Standards” trio with bassist Gary Peacock and drummer Jack DeJohnette has reached such a level of artistic consistency and inspired creativity over the past three decades that each new release becomes a virtual guarantee of excellence. The Out of Towners, a live recording, is no exception. If the format differs little from other trio albums -- classic tunes (“I Can’t Believe That You’re In Love with Me,”"I Love You," “You’ve Changed”), a bop workout (Gerry Mulligan’s “Five Brothers”), a free-form extravaganza (“The Out of Towners”), and a solo piano ballad (“It’s All in the Game”) -- the sterling quality of the playing gives the recording distinction. By now it’s obvious that when it comes to jazz piano trios, Jarrett and his remarkably responsive cohorts are in a class by themselves. Steve Futterman, Barnes & Noble
