About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

It takes a special voice to put across special songs, and Mary Fahl, a former member of the October Project, comes up strong as both a unique singer and composer. Her first full-length album (an EP, Lenses of Contact, was relased in 2000), The Other Side of Time is as concerned with mood and atmosphere as it is with luscious melody and forthright vocalizing. Fahl draws on classical and world music sources, as well as thinking-man’s folk-pop, to sculpt a haunting sonic landscape shimmering with evocative dimensions; her full-bodied voice powerfully endows each song with a palpable strength that evokes her emotional commitment to the material. If her sound recalls that of Enya’s at times, Fahl’s approach has its own distinct personality. Luckily, her sympathetic collaborators -- including fiddler Mark O’Connor, guitarist Oren Bloedow, and Tony Gardiner (bassist for Bob Dylan) -- are as in step with Fahl’s intentions as support players can be. In all, a dazzling overture for an artist whose bright future beckons. William Pearl, Barnes & Noble

December 05, 2003: I absolutely love this album. I knew right away that she had been the lead singer in the October Project. She has a strong unique voice and I predict she will have much success.
