About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

With her critically acclaimed sophomore disc, Dreaming Wide Awake, Lizz Wright became a jazz chanteuse to watch. On her third disc, the largely self-penned The Orchard, Wright makes an inviting and intimate musical statement on original compositions including "Coming Home," "My Heart," "Another Angel," and "When I Fall." Wright also lends her smoldering contralto to revelatory readings of the Ike and Tina Turner classic "I Idolize You," Sweet Honey in the Rock's "Hey Mann," the Led Zeppelin ballad "Thank You," and Patsy Cline’s haunting "Strange." August 16, 2009: Whether you are in or out of love.. her voice will bring you to tears. her voice pours over you like honey. Glorious. Soulful. It is so moving it will bring you to tears. I first learned of Lizz Wright when she opened for another artist a live concert. I fell in love. First rate - you will not be disappointed.

February 07, 2009: Friday evening, Feb. 6, 2009, I enjoyed a magical night at the Allen room, Home of Lincoln Center; under the beautiful stars and back drop of Manhattan Sky light with the soulful sound of Lizz Wright. Spellbound by her melodic, sweet, penetrating voice, it left you wanting and craving for more of her soulful voice. How I wished that this night would not end...it was magical. I rushed out and purchased her album, The Orchid.
