About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Lacking the metal guitar crunch that dominated their breakthrough set, Smash, the Offspring's self-titled debut album is a rawer, harder-edged collection, and makes a more convincing argument for the band's punk credibility. Although The Offspring is more notable for its surface style than its substance, a handful of tracks do make a lasting impression. [This album was reissued in 2001 minus the last track, "Kill the President."] Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

April 29, 2008: My favorite offspring album personally. It just seems like it is actually punk compared to their newer stuff. The only problem is the old version had the song "Kill the President" on it as its last song but they had to take it off the album, And I can't find the original anywhere.

April 23, 2006: If you talk to any of the "hardcore" offspring fans, they will talk about how their first album was really that amazing. Sure, its sound quality is terrible, and the musicianship can at times sound very different from their later stuff, but they dont care. After listening to the album, I really dont know what to say. It does really have some great songs, like Jennifer lost the War, Demons, Tehran, and A Thousand Days. However, much of it is just too much. Other than the mentioned songs, everything is just, average. Not bad, but not great. Probably one of the stars I gave this belongs solely to Tehran, one of their best songs. Before buying this, listen to it on the bands website for free. Otherwise, I would probably reccomend Ignition, Smash, Or Ixnay over this.
