About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Boasting 13 tracks, plus two new songs, The Next Voice You Hear: The Best of Jackson Browne contains some of Browne's biggest hits -- "Doctor My Eyes," "Running on Empty," "Somebody's Baby," "Tender Is the Night" -- but it leaves a surprising number off, including "Rock Me on the Water," "Here Come Those Tears Again," "Stay," "Boulevard," "Lawyers in Love," and "For America." Of course, singles only told half the story with Browne, and many of his greatest songs were only available as album tracks. Therefore, it makes sense that album cuts like "These Days," "Late for Sky," and "The Pretender" are present, but there are still a number of equally good, if not better, cuts that are left off. Consequently, The Next Voice You Hear falls short of being definitive. Nevertheless, for the curious and casual fan, it's a good purchase. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

March 18, 2006: I am fifteen yet I can tell good music when I hear it. This definetely good stuff to listen to on a lazy saturday.I first heard about them actually from a movie, Mr. Hollands opus. I heard the song "the Pretender". It was actually really cool to listen to. I have to look in the past to find good music, seeing as good modern day music is hard to find. Anyway, I started listening to some of their other material, they definetely are not only good musicans but awesome songwriters. I suggest for anyone who wants to write music and/or create better music for the future. Please they were and still are a great band, please seriously consider this great album.

June 21, 2003: The body of Jackson Browne's work from the seventies to the eighties just can't be condensed. Although there is certainly nothing wrong with this CD, I am surprised by the omission of several of my favorites, among them "Rosie", "You Love The Thunder", "Boulevard" "That Girl Could Sing". Jackson Browne really shines in the FILLER tracks not just in those songs that DJs and record execs decide are deserving of airplay. If you truly want the best of Jackson Browne, by all means buy this album, just so you can have "Somebody's Baby" but also get RUNNING ON EMPTY and HOLD OUT and in my humble opinion, you will indeed have the BEST OF Jackson Browne's
