Editorial Reviews

This one kind of sneaks up on you. At first, as the title track eases crunchily through its first minute, you say to yourself, "Oh, great, another emo band that has lots of deep feelings but can't be bothered to write a tune or impose any kind of structure on its songs." Then the chorus hits. Well, technically it's not really a chorus, because this band doesn't impose much in the way of structure on its songs, but it sure feels like a chorus. Cathartic, tuneful, soaring -- what are they going to do for the rest of the album? Well, it turns out they're going to do the same thing, over and over, with occasional digressions into triple meter. But although the conceit remains pretty much the same, it doesn't ever get tiresome; this band's ability to combine relatively dense guitar rock with an edge of experimentalism and a deep undertow of emotional uplift is more than just impressive -- it's practically inspiring. Highlights include the title track, "Snowbirds and Townies," and the absolutely gorgeous "Just Until Sundown." Highly recommended. Rick Anderson, All Music Guide

September 19, 2002: I had all expectations of not liking Further at all. I had heard of Dashboard long before I was introduced to Further, but what I heard was from Further was hooking. The vocals from Chris Carraba are the same, no doubt, but with amazing guitar work as well. This is not at all the acoustic stuff I had expected to hear like Dashboard. The riffs are catchy and the lyrics are heartfelt. All the songs are different, amazing, and catchy in their own way. New Years? Project stood out especially to me. It also features `Snowbirds and Townies? and `Pictures of Shorelines.? I like this band better, it is unlike the one that Dashboard has accompanying him now. There seems to be more emotion and more aggression from the drummer as well as the guitar work. The songs do not have much structure and many songs don?t have a chorus, but that just gives you more to listen to. This is an awesome cd. It is one that I would definitely recommend going to buy. Its mix of emo/indie pop is one that will draw you in. It?s worth much more then 15 bucks.

August 22, 2002: Wow... I've had this cd for over a year now and I still NEVER get tired of it!!! Further is definately my favorite band and this cd one of my top cd's! My favorite tracks are Wearing thin, Pictures of Shorlines, and the Moon is Down. If you have the chance to see these guys live pleeeaase do it! I've seen them 3 times and they're AMAZING. I never imagined the band would be good without Chris Carabba (the lead singer on this album) but I think I like Jason even better! They're new cd comes out sometime early next year and I can't wait... Please give this cd a chance... it's just the right blend of hard guitar riffs and emotional voices to lift you and make ya soar! Definatley a great album to listen to while driving... just watch the spedometer!
