About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Whether he's hosting a top-rated radio show on New York's Hot-97 FM or spinning the wheels of steel on MTV, Funkmaster Flex definitely has his ear tuned to the street's hottest music. In fact, it's his discerning tastes that make 60 Minutes of Funk, Volume IV: The Mixtape such a hip collection of jeep-ready joints. This party-packed compilation features many of today's hottest urban artists, including Nelly on the sing-song rap track "Come Over," Eminem on the biting "Words Are Weapons," and the late Notorious B.I.G. on the jazzy "The Wickedest." The disc's bass booming first single, "Do You," is an adrenaline-filled song propelled by DMX's trademark growl and dark lyrics. Flex keeps the momentum going with a hyped remix of M.O.P.'s "Ante Up," which also features Busta Rhymes. The radio personality does, however, slow down the pace with the upbeat "How Would U Like It," featuring Ginuwine, Faith Evans on the disco-esque "Goodlife," and up-and-coming R&B group In Essence on the slow jam "You'll Never Find," which samples Mobb Deep's haunting "Quiet Storm." With 60 Minutes of Funk, Volume IV: The Mixtape, Funkmaster Flex proves why he's America's No. 1 urban music DJ. Rashaun Hall Barnes & Noble
