About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

The laws of physics predict that lightning rarely strikes the same spot twice. But Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson isn't big on abiding by the law. Following in the multi-platinum footsteps of his 2003 debut, Get Rich or Die Tryin', the G-Unit general prepares to dominate the charts once again with The Massacre. Backed by the production wizardry of Dr. Dre and Eminem, among others, 50 delivers another jolting collection of gritty street anthems ("Ski Mask Way," "In My Hood") and surefire radio hits ("Candy Shop," "Pimpin' Part 2"). While the disc adeptly navigates the requisite themes of urban strife and groupie love, the Queens native delves deeper with conceptual tracks like "Baltimore LoveThing," where he likens heroin addiction to falling in love. Then, on "Talkin' 'Bout Me," 50 takes a few cues from Eminem's "Stan" and rhymes about himself from his haters' perspective. The rugged rapper's introspective interlude, is short-lived, however, as his trash-talking persona takes over on "Piggy Bank," which takes unnecessary shots at rival rappers Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Shyne, and Nas. With his sophomore disc, 50 Cent makes it clear that he wants not only to reclaim his chart-topping status but also to massacre the competition in the process. Anslem Samuel Barnes & Noble

May 17, 2006: HOT! FIRST-LISTEN CAREFULLY,THE ALBUM HAS VARIETY:HOOD BEATS,CLUB SONGS a la RADIO,'90'S HIPHOP VIBE,AND OF COURSE CURTIS JACKSON CHARM. LYRICALLY, HE'S KNOW *PHAROAHE MONCH* BUT HE WRITES/RHYMES CONSISTENTLY THROUGHOUT EACH SONG (listen carefully-not judgementally is dat aword--anyway)) AND HAS CATCHY CHORUSES...ALSO, HE IS SOCIALLY-CONSCIOUS to a degree, CONFIDENT,DESCRIPTIVE,AND COMICAL. TO HATE ON THE MASSACRE IS WHAT I CALL "SELF-PREFERENCE" LISTENING(make me feel better listening)..INSTEAD, HE SLUGGED US W/A HEROIN ADDICTION SONG AND BANGED YOUR FAVORITE HOLLYWOOD CELEB THEN KICKED THEM OUT OF HIS CAR @THE SAME TIME GLORIFYIN' THE OLD WILD-WILD WEST(TRUE AMERICAN ---BUT 21ST CENTURY VERSION ! WRONG OR RIGHT HIPHOP OR GANSTA? ITS NOT FOR YOU OR ME TO JUDGE HIS PERSONA--- YO ---JUST LISTEN OR CHANGE THE CD -ASK MATTHEW:25-THE ALBUM IS "MOVIE-LIFE"-MUSIC!!!ps.the concept is dope
