Editorial Reviews

Drummer Louie Bellson's 1982 big band performs five of his originals and one song apiece by Matt Catingub ("My Mother the Jazz Singer" is dedicated to Mavis Rivers), Hale Rood and Bob Florence ("Drum Squad"). The mostly young band features talented soloists in trumpeter John Eckert, altoist Catingub, pianist Frank Strazzeri and tenorman Ted Nash, making this an album worth searching for by big-band collectors.
