Editorial Reviews

At first glance, Little Drummer Boy seems like it would be incredibly dated. But surprisingly enough, the Harry Simeone Chorale is a great group of vocalists that performs a wonderful set of Christmas carols. The music is kept in a traditional choral style, but the performances are quite spirited and lively. Album highlights include "Little Drummer Boy," which benefits from the gentle orchestration placed gingerly underneath the singing, and "Carol of the Bells," which twists and sways perfectly as it is sung in a round. Overall, this is a great holiday album with solid traditional arrangements and fantastic singing that fans of choral music (or Christmas music in general) will probably enjoy. December 19, 2006: I grew up listening to this album and I have searched for it for years. I was listening to the radio and The Little Drummer Boy came on and I recognized it immediately and made a note of the artist. I can't wait to share it with my family!

November 04, 2006: This album was given to me in 1963 when I was nine years old and I played the LP until it is now unintelligible. I no longer have a turntable so was ecstatic to find it in CD format. The songs on this CD are some of the best ever written, especially the Puerto Rican carol. Now my daughters and grand children can continue the family tradition of playing this album while baking cookies and wrapping gifts.
